Meet the Team
Gad Lavy, M.D., F.A.C.O.GMedical Director and Physician
Dr. Lavy is the medical director and founder of New England Fertility (NEF), the first non-hospital-based outpatient in vitro fertilization (IVF) center in the state of Connecticut. Dr. Lavy received his training at Hadassah Medical School at Hebrew University in Israel and completed his residency at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, where he served on the medical faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Prior to founding New England Fertility in 1991, Dr. Lavy was an assistant professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Yale University School of Medicine for four years and served as the director of the Yale program for assisted reproduction.
Dr. Lavy is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. In addition to being medical director of New England Fertility, he is a medical staff member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, and a consulting physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut. A member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, Dr. Lavy is an internationally recognized speaker and author on the topics of infertility, assisted reproductive technology (ART), and gestational surrogacy and egg donation.
As the CEO of New England Fertility (NEF), Samantha Lavy is responsible for the overall management of the practice. Samantha joined NEF in 1999 has served many roles in her time with the practice, such as: Financial Administrator, Donor Egg Coordinator, Director of Marketing and Outreach, and Director of Operations.
Ellen She, MD, PhDLaboratory Director
Dr. She is the director of the New England Fertility (NEF) laboratory, where she performs state-of-the-art IVF techniques, including: conventional insemination (IUI), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Assisted Zona Hatching (AZH), embryo biopsy (blastomere and blastocyst) for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), and cryopreservation (slow freezing and vitrification).
Before joining NEF in 2007, Ellen worked as a biologist in the Genetics Department at the Scripps Research Institute and at the University of California, San Diego, where she furthered her knowledge in basic cell biology and molecular biology and obtained extensive hands-on embryology experience.
She is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). She received her medical degree in 1982 from Fujian Medical University in China and graduated from Hamamatsu University School of Medicine with a PhD in Reproductive Physiology in 1998.
Ellen’s strong scientific background has been instrumental in New England Fertility’s development of a new technology to help treat infertility and in creating a center of excellence in embryology and IVF at NEF.
Franci Sheehan, APRN, MSNurse Practitioner and Lead Clinician
Franci Sheehan, RNC, MS, is involved in various aspects of diagnosis and treatment at New England Fertility. A long-time nurse practitioner in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, she also serves on the faculty of Yale University and is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). Franci holds a Master’s degree in Maternal and Child Health from Boston College and Harvard Medical School, and is certified in both Women’s Health and Reproductive Endocrinology.
Grace Stocco RN, BN, MSN, FNP-CNurse Practitioner
Graziella (Grace) Stocco, RN, BN, MSN, FNP-C, brings more than 22 years of nursing experience in obstetrics and gynecology to New England Fertility. She works closely with patients, helping them understand each step of the fertility treatment process. An expert in infertility treatment, Grace received her Bachelor’s of Nursing degree in Australia, and her Master’s degree in Nursing at Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
Susan Kornitsky, RNRegistered Nurse
A nurse at the Hamden New England Fertility office, Susan graduated from Curry College in Massachusetts with a BS degree in Nursing. Susan has been involved in womens health care for the past 20 years, 15 of which have been with New England Fertility.
Alyssa Baron, LMSWThird Party Reproduction Coordinator
As Third Party Reproduction Coordinator, Alyssa Baron, LMSW, assists intended parents, surrogates and egg donors throughout their journey at New England Fertility. Alyssa has worked in the field of fertility for several years, and was initially drawn to this work while studying grief and bereavement in graduate school.
Alyssa received her BA in psychology from Binghamton University and she received her Masters in social work from Columbia University.
Qiusha ShenEgg Donor and Surrogacy Coordinator/Chinese Translator
As an Egg Donor and Surrogacy Coordinator, Qiusha is dedicated to establishing clear channels of communication with patients and helping them through the third party reproduction process.
Qiusha speaks English, Chinese and Shanghainese fluently. She can help the Chinese patients to overcome the language barrier and understand all the medical terminology clearly during their journey at New England Fertility.
Qiusha received her BA in Broadcast & TV Direction from Shanghai University and she received her Master's degree in Health Care Administration from Seton Hall University.
